FLYING POINT ROAD HOUSE, ON MECOX BAY
MR Architecture + Decor was approached by a long-time client to furnish and decorate their newly purchased waterfront vacation home, originally conceived and built by architect Fred Stelle and renowned interior designer Jacques Grange.
The house is perched high upon the dunes of the exact point where the Mecox Bay meets the Atlantic. Walls of glass throughout overlook the coastal landscape. The house features warm wood paneled ceilings and plaster walls, giving the home a very cozy, relaxed feel.
MR approached the furnishings with a warm palette using wood, woven materials, and neutral textiles with complimentary blue and orange accents. The use of sheer drapery fabric adds softness and luminosity to the space. The overall effect is a casual relaxed space, with not so precious pieces that agree with a casual lifestyle.
With the family’s goal of visiting the home before Memorial Day, the MR team was put on a extremely tight timeline of designing, installing, and styling within a two month time period.
My role as a designer included designing floor plan layouts, custom furniture/fixture drawings, coordinating the contractor and craftsmen, specifying fabrics, palettes, and furnishings, styling, and ordering/invoicing all FF & E.
